Thanksgiving is a special day and should be treated as such — celebrate with some interesting and delicious cocktails, including these nine hard-to-resist recipes.

The fun part about making cocktails is that you can tailor to what each individual likes. Making cocktails allows you to be creative, so don't be shy to add an extra dash of this and an additional splash of that. The recipes are meant to give you a guideline, helping you spark some ideas of your own. Try a few (or all) of them this Thanksgiving. 




Hopefully the weather this Thanksgiving doesn't match the name of this drink, but if it does, you will have a warming treat that will surely keep everyone in good spirits. After all, ginger pairs beautifully with pumpkin, root vegetables, fennel, cinnamon, and poultry.

What You'll Need (Serves 1)

  • 2 ounces of dark rum
  • 4-5 ounces of ginger beer
  • Lime wedge to garnish

What to Do

  1. Simply pour your rum over ice, preferably in a highball glass, then fill with ginger beer. Garnish with lime so that guests can add a hint of citrus and acidity.



Besides turkey, what says Thanksgiving more than cranberries and cinnamon? With this delicious sour, you'll create the flavors of fall, all combined into one delicious cocktail.

What You'll Need (Serves 1)

  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 ounces of bourbon
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

What to Do

  1. Start by simmering cranberries, sugar, and your cinnamon stick in 1/2 cup of water. After 5-10 minutes, the cranberries will begin to pop.
  2. Once combined, strain with fine mesh and allow to cool.
  3. Add your cranberry simple syrup with bourbon and citrus juices to a shaker with ice — shake vigorously and pour.



From pumpkin pie to jack-o-lanterns, this time of your year is all about pumpkins. Why not keep the pumpkin spirit going with this classy, seasonal cocktail. It's time to enjoy pumpkin pie in a glass.

What You'll Need (Serves 1)

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 2 tbsp cream
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin puree
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice

What to Do

  1. Wet the rim of your glass and apply half of the pumpkin pie spice.
  2. Using a shaker, combine the remaining ingredients with ice — shake well, strain and serve.



Apple picking is in full-swing and in order to celebrate this fruit, why not whip up a batch of apple mimosas? Add a dash of caramel and you have yourself an after-dinner Thanksgiving treat.

What You'll Need (Serves 4)

  • 4 ounces of vodka
  • Bottle of champagne
  • 3/4 cup apple cider
  • 1 tbsp caramel
  • Dash of cinnamon

What to Do

  1. Combine caramel, apple cider and cinnamon, mixing until combined.
  2. Pour this combination into a flute along with an ounce of vodka, top with champagne. 


Cranberry and Thyme Tonic

If you have some extra thyme laying around from your turkey or stuffing, why not create a fun cocktail? Once again, showcasing cranberries as a holiday favorite, this drink is creative and delicious. 

What You'll Need (Serves 4)

  • 8 ounces of gin
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 cup agave nectar
  • Tonic water
  • Fresh thyme
  • Splash of orange juice

What to Do

  1. Once again, heat cranberries, agave sugar and 1/2 cup of water until cranberries burst. Strain once finished — allow to cool.
  2. In a shaker, combine ice, gin, orange juice and cranberry simple syrup. Shake lightly and strain into glass.
  3. Toss in a couple of fresh cranberries and pieces of thyme for both show and flavor. 


    Spiked Hot Chocolate 

    For those people who don't like pumpkin pie, offer up a delicious hot chocolate recipe that just keeps on giving. Not everyone likes pumpkin pie, but who can resist a warming, boozy chocolate treat?

    What You'll Need (Serves 1)

    • 3/4 cup of milk
    • 2 ounces dark chocolate
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 2 ounces bourbon
    • Whipped cream
    • Cinnamon to garnish

    What to Do 

    1. Bring milk to a simmer before reducing to low-heat, whisking in the chocolate and sugar.
    2. Pour bourbon into an Irish coffee glass, adding your chocolate-milk mixture.
    3. Top with whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon.


     Grapefruit Gin Splash  

    To freshen up Thanksgiving, make a cocktail that will cut through all that rich food. This light and refreshing drink will appeal to the masses and with just a few simple ingredients, it's also easy-to-make.

    What You'll Need (Serves 1)

    • 5 ounces of gin
    • 3 ounces pink grapefruit juice
    • 1 ounce of orange juice
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1 ounce soda water 

    What to Do

    1. In a glass with ice, pour orange juice first, creating a layer effect.
    2. In a shaker, combine sugar, grapefruit juice, and gin — stir.
    3. Pour over orange juice and top with soda water.


     Granny Smith Cocktail

    Celebrate the tart yet delicious flavor of granny smith apples, adding your own special flair. Featuring crushed blackberries and crushed ice, this cocktail is most certainly inviting.

    What You'll Need (Serves 1)

    • 5 ounces vodka
    • 1/2 ounce apple schnapps
    • 4 ounces of a light soft drink, such as Sprite
    • 1 tbsp crushed blackberries
    • Crushed ice

    What to Do

    1. In a shaker, combine all ingredients — shake lightly and pour into a glass.


    Berry Beer Cocktail

    Summer may have passed this year, but that doesn't mean you can't continue to use berries throughout fall and winter. Since Thanksgiving is all about family, eating and drinking, you'll most certainly have some extra beers laying around — mix them into a cocktail.

    What You'll Need (Serves 1) 

    • 2 tbsp frozen berries of your choice
    • 1 bottle of beer
    • 1 ounce vodka
    • 4 ounces of pink lemonade
    • Lemon slices

    What to Do

    1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker, pour over ice.
