With Labor Day just around the corner, everyone is making plans. Being a holiday that celebrates workers and the achievements they make, it's important to let loose and enjoy yourself. Whether you're having a backyard BBQ, hosting a dinner party, or heading to a cabin, these cocktail recipes can come along for the ride.
Try One of These Simple, Yet Delicious Cocktail Recipes

Whether you want to enhance your cocktail game or wow your friends, these recipes will make you look like a pro. This Labor Day be sure to kick back and enjoy a stress-free weekend. Try out one (or all) of the following.
Perfect with brunch, mimosas are simple, yet brighten up a Sunday afternoon.
750 ml bottle of dry sparkling wine or champagne — chilled
3 cups of fresh orange juice — chilled
½ cup of Grand Mariner or Triple Sec (optional)
Fill flutes ½ way with sparkling wine, top with orange and liqueur.
Please note, this recipe will serve 8, so if you'd like to make a single serving, just adjust increments accordingly. This is when it's handy to have a bottle stopper so that you can keep the sparkling wine carbonated.
Fresh and vibrant, there are many versions of mojitos, but this is the classic recipe.
2 parts rum
½ fresh lime (cut into wedges)
8-10 fresh mint leaves
2 teaspoons of brown sugar
Splash of soda water
Begin by muddling your lime wedges and sugar together, helping release more of the juice.
Place mint leaves between your hands and clap — this will actually release more aroma. Drop them into your glass and combine with lime-sugar mixture.
Fill the glass about halfway with crushed ice before pouring in rum — top with soda water.
Garnish with a small lime wedge and a small sprig of mint.
There's no better way to end the summer, than with a large jug of sangria between friends. Although you can make white or red, this recipe focuses on the latter — which once again, is traditional.
1 small apple — cored and chopped into small pieces
3 thick orange slices — sliced into small pieces with the rind left on
½ lime — rind left on and chopped
3 tbsp raw sugar
1 cup orange juice
1/3 cup of brandy
1 bottle of red (750 ml)
In a large pitcher, add fruit and sugar — muddle slightly.
Pour in the juice and brandy, mixing thoroughly.
Pour in wine and adjust taste based on your personal preference.
Making the perfect margarita is all about balancing crisp, fresh flavours, producing a one-of-a-kind taste.
5 ounces of quality tequila — when you source a high-quality tequila, you don't need any sugar (outside of the sweetness you get from triple sec)
1 ounce triple sec
1 lime — juiced + lime wheel for garnish
Salt — for rim
Rim your glass with salt after rubbing edge with lime juice.
Using a shaker, combine tequila, triple sec, and lime juice — then add ice.
Pour into place using a strainer, adding fresh ice and lime wheel.
If you're feeling like something fun and pretty, this is the drink for you.
2 ounces of vodka
1/2 ounce of triple sec
2 tbsp cranberry juice
2 lime wedges
1 orange twist
Using a cocktail shaker, add vodka, ice, triple sec, cranberry juice, and the juice from both lime wedges.
Shake until the mixture is chilled, then strain into a martini glass.
Garnish with orange twist.
Another brunch favourite, Labour Day just isn't the same without a couple of caesars.
5 ounces vodka
1 cup of Clamato juice
Small saucer of celery salt
1 celery stick
Dash of hot sauce
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Wet the rim a glass, spreading celery salt around the rim — then add ice.
Pour in vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and Clamato juice.
Stir and garnish with both lime and celery.
This cocktail is simple, yet sophisticated — what more could you ask for?
2 parts bourbon
1 part lemon juice
Freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice
2 tbsp simple syrup
Cherries to garnish
Simply combine whisky, lemon juice, simple syrup, and lime juice — shake.
Pour into glass and add 1-2 cherries.
There's no denying that these cocktails are both fun to make and drink, but the associated morning-after hangover is always less enjoyable. To protect yourself the next day, be sure to have some hangover pills on-hand. If you're hosting, your guests will most certainly appreciate the added gesture. Dish out a couple before they get into their cab — they'll thank you for it the next day.
