Kick Off the Holiday Season with These Christmas Cocktails

Christmas cocktails should be both fun and warming. With a touch of this and a dash of that, you will spread some cocktail joy to those you love. Easy-to-make, these cocktails will surely get you into the holiday spirit.


Holiday Sangria

Sangria is not just for the summer — this recipe is perfect for the holiday season, giving off a cheerful red hue that will kick-off any holiday party.

What You'll Need (Serves 4-5)

  • 8 ounces brandy
  • 1 bottle of red wine — chilled
  • 6 ounces orange juice
  • 4 ounces soda water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 orange — sliced
  • 1 apple — sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

What to Do

  1. In a large pitcher, combine apple slices, orange slices, sugar, cinnamon sticks and brandy. Allow to sit for 20 minutes.
  2. Add orange juice, wine and soda water.
  3. Serve over ice. 


Mulled Wine  

If you go to any Christmas market, you'll be sure to find glasses of mulled wine. Full of flavor, this warm winter treat is a gift that just keeps on giving.

What You'll Need (Best enjoyed with friends — serves 4-5) 

  • 1 bottle of dry red wine
  • 1 orange + 1/2 an orange to slice for garnish
  • 2 ounces brandy
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise

What to Do

  1. Combine all ingredients except for garnish and bring to a light simmer — be sure not to boil.
  2. Allow ingredients to simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Strain and serve warm with orange slices, cinnamon sticks or any other garnish you desire. 


White Russian

    Being a bit heavier, this cocktail is great for those long, cold winter nights.

    What You'll Need

    • 2 ounces vodka
    • 1 ounce coffee liqueur
    • 1 ounce heavy cream

    What to Do

    1. Fill a glass with ice and pour in both your vodka and liqueur.
    2. Once stirred, pour heavy cream on top. 


    Christmas Martini

      To kick off the holiday season, get together with some friends and knock back a few martinis. Taking no time to make, you will be able to enjoy one after the other.

      What You'll Need

      • 5 ounces vodka
      • 1/4 ounce dry vermouth
      • Splash of peppermint schnapps

      What to Do

      1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice.
      2. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass.



        No matter what time of year it is, a classic Negroni is always a good choice. Nice and boozy, this cocktail is garnished with an orange peel — warming your soul instantly. 

        What You'll Need

        • 1 ounce Campari — replace with rum if you can't find Campari
        • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
        • 1 ounce gin
        • Orange peel

        What to Do 

        1. Add ice to a short glass, followed by the first three ingredients.
        2. Stir and garnish with orange peel.


         Spiked Eggnog

        What's the holiday season without some eggnog? Better yet, what's the holiday season without some spiked eggnog — that's what Santa really wants with his cookies. This recipe is quick, easy and delicious. 

        What You'll Need

        • 2 ounces milk
        • 1 ounce brandy
        • 1 egg yolk
        • 1/2 ounce simple syrup — equal parts dissolved sugar and water
        • Dash of nutmeg

        What to Do 

        1. Put ice in a shaker, followed by all the ingredients listed above.
        2. Shake well and strain into the glass of your choice.
        3. Sprinkle with nutmeg. 


        Caramel Latte Martini

          Nothing like an after-dinner treat to keep the party going. If you want to pass on all the cakes, pies and cookies that are being passed around over the holidays, try this caramel latte martini to satisfy your sweet tooth.

          What You'll Need

          • 2 ounces caramel vodka
          • 4 ounces of coffee — chilled
          • 1/2 ounce chocolate milk
          • Caramel to drizzle

          What to Do

          1. Shake first three ingredients well for 30 seconds.
          2. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with drizzled caramel. 


            Peach Bourbon Bomb 

            When it comes to bourbon, it can be enjoyed all-year-round. The addition of peach adds a refreshing touch that will help cut through all that cheese you'll be nibbling on throughout the holidays. 

            What You'll Need

            • 2 ounces bourbon
            • 1/2 a peach
            • 1 tsp lemon juice
            • 1 tsp raw sugar
            • 1 sprig mint (reserving 3-4 leaves for garnish)

            What to Do 

            1. In a shaker, muddle all ingredients except for your bourbon.
            2. Add ice and then pour in bourbon — shake well.
            3. Strain into an old fashioned glass with some ice — garnish with mint.


               Peach Bourbon Bomb

              Served in a martini glass, this vibrant mojito screams 'special' occasion. Of course, the red coloration is also reminiscent of the holiday season. The mint leaf adds a touch of green flair — celebrating what looks almost like a Christmas holly.

              What You'll Need

              • 2 tbsp frozen raspberries
              • 5 ounces white rum
              • 1 ounce soda water
              • 1 sprig of mint (reserving a few leaves for garnish)
              • 1 tsp sugar
              • 4 ice cubes

              What to Do

              1. Place your raspberries in a bowl and muddle well.
              2. Combine all remaining ingredients in a shaker before stirring in muddle raspberries.
              3. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with mint — fancy!

                • 1/2 ounce vodka

                • Cherry and a candy cane to garnish

                1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker — shake well.
